Hand-knotted wool rug

Damask is a hand-knotted rug in a combination of New Zealand wool and bamboo silk on a cotton warp. Bamboo silk is obtained from bamboo stalks, so carpet is a 100% natural product. The carpet is from two sides finished cotton fringes which are dyed in a tea bath. The name of the carpet is derived from the so-called damask pattern, which originates in faraway China and was imported to Europe in the 14th century. The carpet was made in the Indian region of Bhadohi.
